The param Lok Vigyan Kendra will act as resource centre for science communication in the district and carry out scientific activities for science, Technology and Environment for the school-college student, farmer, women i.e. for special masses including rural and urban area.
The Gujarat Council on Science and Technology (GUJCOST) play a catalytic role in promoting the use of Science and Technology in the development process of the State constituted with a view to develop technologies appropriate to and in harmony with present conditions. The Council has been catalyzing interaction between developers and users of technologies, by bringing on a common platform to training Scientists and Engineers on the one hand and policy makers as well as administrators on the other.
GUJCOST identifying the areas in which Science and Technology can be applied for development activities and achieve the goals of the State, with a particular emphasis to eliminate the prevailing backwardness, rural unemployment and poverty. To fulfill the aims and objectives of GUJCOST the decentralization of the responsibilities have been allotted, which results the statewide district-wise community science centers are established and activated. The district science centers are working for the science popularization, expansion and spread throughout the district.
there are more than 100 schools connect through GUJCOST Science Clubs every year with us. The Clubs conduct various scientific activities in their schools for their own children. Frequently, we also join with them by our Vigyan Safar/ Videovan programs through the demonstration of Projects and Experiments at their own school campus. Besides our adjoined club schools, we also visit the other schools for our Vigyan safar/Videovan.
Now, we are planning to improve our said campaign by another big van having more and advance facilities with it. There are more than 300 secondary/higher secondary schools and more than 800 primary school students will be the beneficiary of the Vigyan Safar/Videovan namely "Science On Wheels" program.
